I absolutely loved working with the teams at SKIMS last month to install their new shop in shop department at Harrods London. The new department which opened over the Summer, offers Harrods customers a range of SKIMS shapewear, loungewear, underwear and everyday basics.

SKIMS as a brand promotes body positivity and offers customers inclusive sizing in a wide size range with multiple skin tone shades. SKIMS inclusivity resonates with customers across the globe, a brand tapping into the requirements of today’s audience.

SKIMS Visual Merchandising—both in-store and online—is carefully designed to reflect the brand’s minimalist, inclusive, and luxurious identity. While SKIMS began as a digital-first company, its pop-ups, retail partnerships at Department Stores, Selfridges, and Harrods, as well as their flagship stores reveal a distinct retail strategy. Here are the key Visual Merchandising elements to note ;

I love the brands minimal and neutral aesthetic colour palette, with stores and displays using muted nudes, beiges, creams, and soft browns to match SKIMS product tones (their “nudes for all” concept).

Their store concepts feature clean lines & soft textures, focusing upon sleek shelving, curved displays and warm fabrics create a calming, tactile environment that reflects comfort and body positivity.

Strong category zoning, where products are grouped by function (shapewear, loungewear, underwear) making it easy for customers to navigate.

Impactful product presentation, merchandise is folded or hung in neat rows or on minimalist racks, allowing shoppers to touch and shop the garments with ease..

Mannequins which showcase the inclusivity of the brand to all customers, reinforcing the brand’s inclusive nude concept.

Creating the right ambience for shopping, using soft, diffused lighting enhancing the feel of intimacy and comfort, while spotlighting product textures.

Well placed mirrors and the use of warm lighting which help customers to see true colour matches for their skin tone.

A fantastic example of a retail concept and brand in line with today’s consumer requirements, well worth a visit to their shop in shop now open at Harrods, Knightsbridge !
