Tips For Creating Impactful Window Displays
This month, I would like to share my top tips for creating impactful Window Displays
A great window display should capture attention in 3-5 seconds and entice customer’s to step inside the store.
There are four Visual Merchandising principles which can be applied to your window display composition.
These are; Symmetrical, Asymmetrical, Repetition & Alternation
Create a strong focal point within your window composition, which is positioned at the eye line of your customer.
When creating Symmetrical or Asymmetrical pyramid compositions, the focal point is at the top of the pyramid.
The customers eye will always focus here first so ensure products that you want the customer to see as a priority are positioned here.
Tell a story – Create a theme or scene that connects emotionally with shoppers.
Consider highlighting promotional or seasonal campaigns within your window.
On average most window displays are renewed every 4-8 weeks to ensure that they create constant newness and interest for the customer.
Create a monthly window calendar to help you plan for future schemes and promotions.
Create a consistent theme across your window by using 3 key colours.
Too many products, themes or colours can overwhelm and reduce impact.
Use strong lighting to highlight your focal points within your composition. Direct your spotlights to highlight key items and create visual depth.
Installing a QR code on your window where customers can scan through to your digital channels creates the “phygital” experience!
