Visual Merchandising Consultancy Jersey Zoo Durrell
I had a great opportunity this month to travel over to Jersey to spend a few days with the retail team at Durrell’s, Jersey Zoo. My time with the team involved a day running a bespoke Visual Merchandising training course, where I introduced the key VM principles to the team and how they can go on to apply these within their stores commercially and creatively.
I then spent time working with the team in both of the Zoo’s retail stores, the sites based at the Zoo and also at Jersey airport – working practically to implement the theory that we had covered on the training day. We focused upon creating strong, impactful window displays and connecting these with an in store hot spot space, the team are now working on creating a promotional calendar for these areas to ensure change happens every four weeks. You can see an example of the hot spot created in the pictures below, we created a promotional space which focuses upon celebrating the life and work of their founder, Gerald Durrell.
Product placement and effective store layout principles were also an important focus within the stores. The team are now excited about carrying out their own customer flow exercises, which will highlight any opportunities which need to be addressed across their retail spaces.
